Compliance Recording

It is vital that broadcasters have the ability to reliably and economically record all channels for regulatory purposes.

This is a service that EBS provides to fall in line with Ofcom's current regulations that state all broadcasts are recorded as transmitted for 60 days for all cable and satellite channels, 90 days for terrestrial channels and 42 days for radio channels. Compliance recording must be done to obtain an Ofcom operating licence, which is essential when broadcasting.

EBS endeavours to ensure that channels are recorded 24/7 and, when requested by the client, produce a recording either on VHS tape or DVD.

Ofcom prefer compliance recordings to be supplied on a VHS tape. However, our extensive technical facilities mean that we are able to provide any requested recordings on DVD.

• Storage and processing: The satellite channel is captured and encoded, the encoding is then streamed to disk for archiving up to the required amount of days.

• Recording retrieval and customer contact: If required to produce a recording for Ofcom, we have a simple and fast interface to our compliance recording application which allows us to offer a responsive turnaround of two full working days.
